Forest Hills Police Make Marijuana Arrest, Investigate Fraud

The latest from the police in Forest Hills.

July 26

  • A Sumner Ave. resident reported that her car was broken into overnight, but nothing valuable was stolen. Police told the woman that they had arrested a person suspected of breaking into cars and filed an incident report.
  • After a resident reported that two raccoons had gotten into his garbage cans, an officer moved the cans and released the animals.
  • Officers responded to a water main break on the 800 block of Sherwood Road and had authorities shut off the water.

July 27

  • A resident on Lenox Avenue told police that because of a “suspicious (unexplained) prior incident,” she believed that she “may be kidnapped.” According to the incident report, police advised her that the suspicion was “absolutely ridiculous.”
  • An officer responded to a report that a car was broken into on Edgewood Road. The owner said a small amount of change was taken.

  • Police responded to a domestic disturbance allegedly caused by a man who knocked on the door of a Kenmore Avenue apartment seeking a bottle of alcohol he’d left there following a party months earlier. When police arrived, the man was gone. They found him at his house and advised him to keep his distance.

July 29

  • Officers arrested a man and charged him with disorderly conduct after finding him stoned and slumped over the steering wheel of his car, which was parked near the intersection of Marion and Pacific avenues around 8:15 a.m. Officers recovered a bowl and a small bag of marijuana from the car.

  • A missing dog was returned to its owner after a group of juveniles found the dog, created flyers and began searching for its home on Glasgow Road. An officer remembered an earlier report of a missing dog and contacted the owner.
  • A man flagged down an officer after his truck was allegedly stolen in North Versailles. The officer told the man to call with his license plate number for follow up.

Aug. 1

  • A McKeesport woman reported that her bank card had been stolen and used at an ATM in Forest Hills. Two fraudulent transactions came to a total of $400, she said. Police are investigating.
