In November 2011, Shawn Klocek became a part-time contractor for Patch, producing content for several sites in the greater Pittsburgh area. Before that, he contributed freelance work to the site, covered the Forest Hills Borough Council beat and occasionally substituted for editors.
A 2010 graduate of Duquesne University, Klocek holds a bachelor's degree in creative writing and print journalism. His work has also appeared in the Pittsburgh City Paper, where he produced stories and contributed research as a news intern.
Currently, he lives in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh. For the bulk of his upbringing, he lived south of the city in Monongahela, Washington County, where he attended Ringgold High School.
With interests ranging from politics and economics to experimental poetry and local music, Klocek hopes to capture stories that bring residents closer to their communities and the people in them.
