Forest Hills Police Help Handle Car Chase, Armed Robbery

July 5

  • Officers assisted Braddock Hills police in responding to an armed robbery at the Family Dollar on Brinton Road. According to the police report, a Forest Hills officer detained a Regent Square man who admitted to the crime. After searching his car and finding a buck knife, a pair of sunglasses and a bottle of vodka, the officer turned Toocheck over to Braddock Hills police.
  • Officers were dispatched to Avenue L for a report of juveniles setting off fireworks around 10 p.m. The youths were gone when police arrived.

July 6

  • Around 1 a.m., an officer advised a man exercising in the Taco Bell parking lot to wait for his ride at the bus stop across the street. According to the report, the man was shirtless, covered in sweat, and did not appear to be intoxicated or have mental health issues.
  • Police responded to a report of three shots fired on Geisler Drive near Filmore Road. The area was quiet on arrival, and officers couldn’t locate the source of the shots.
  • An ACCESS van hit a car parked near Shear Beauty Salon on Ardmore Blvd., damaging its hood and side fender. Police later provided the car owner with insurance and accident information.

July 7

  • Officers assisted Wilkinsburg police in responding to an accident at the intersection of Penn Avenue and Ardmore Boulevard. According to the police report, two passengers who fled the scene required medical attention.
  • Police responded to a caller’s complaint that a loose dog jumped on him on Lenox Avenue. Officers spoke to the dog’s owner and told her she’s legally obligated to keep the dog on a leash.
  • After an officer smelled smoke coming from Forest Hills Park, he found a group of people setting off fireworks. The officer told them to clean up and leave the area.

July 8

  • An officer assisted Edgewood police in a car chase that went from Ardmore Boulevard and onto the Parkway toward Pittsburgh. The driver wrecked his car on the Oakland exit ramp. He was taken into custody, while his two passengers ran from the scene.
  • After receiving a report that an open garage on Sumner Avenue contained fireworks, an officer spoke to the homeowner.

  • Officers assisted Wilkinsburg police in collecting evidence at the scene of a fatal shooting at Paul Court Apartments.

July 10

  • A resident reported credit card fraud. She said she roughly $125 in fraudulent purchases were made, and she received a call from a Florida man whose son received a check for $2,900 with her return address.

July 12

  • Officers took an assault report resulting from a spat between two employees at United American Security.
