With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

Where our hero introduces himself and realizes very quickly just how hard this whole "blogging" thing really is.

Yup, I've got nothing.

Seriously.  This is how i'm going to introduce myself to the many fine readers of our local area here on patch.com?

I had such high hopes for myself, you see.  In my own mind, I was going to dominate this world of on-line citizen-based journalism with my witty mix of nerd humor, political savvy and charm.  Instead, I've gone and fallen back on this old gag.  What a disgrace.

Hell, I even made the mistake of writing a good old-fashioned self-important headline before I even had a semblance of a subject to blather on about.  Good grief.

Some quick background:  I'm 32, own my own computer-slash-networking business stationed out in the northern boondocks of Allegheny County, and currently live on West Street in Wilkinsburg.  I'm happily married, as long as I stay on top of the few chores my wife asks me to accomplish and get home from work on time.  I'm originally from the Alle-Kiski Valley, specifically Tarentum, home of the Tour-Ed Mine and..  other stuff.

See, i'm a big geek.   I'm a nerd.  A dork.  I enjoy reading 500-page manuals on obscure operations deep in Windows Server.  I love Doctor Who.  Star Wars is a huge part of my childhood.  I've had an internet account since 1994, back when it actually mattered where your ISP was located otherwise you'd run up a $700 phone bill and your parents would want to kill you (yes on both counts).

If there's any hint of a theme on this blog, it'll most likely be geek culture, gaming and other things of that ilk.  However, as a Wilkinsburg resident and raving left-wing bleeding-heart liberal pinko commie, lifelong-democrat, and steelworker's son i'm sure i'll work in politics and local issues.  Of course, occasionally i'll probably just phone it in and rant about something, randomly peppering the article with salty language and colorful metaphors.

I'll try to keep it entertaining, maybe throw in a few laughs here and there and even more rarely, inform.

How about this?  I'll write it, and if it sucks too bad you guys can let me know.  Ah, the wonders of the internet age!

Deal?  Ok.  Here we go!
