Robbery, Several Thefts Reported to Edgewood Police

July 29

  • A woman attempted to steal cosmetics from Giant Eagle. She will be privately prosecuted.
July 30
  • Officers assisted Swissvale police with a large party on Stanton Avenue. Police encountered more than 30 people in the residence, a stolen gun and 31 bags of suspected marijuana. Two people were arrested.
July 31
  • A Walnut Street resident reported jewelry stolen.
Aug. 1
  • Police assisted Wilkinsburg police with a robbery on Woodworth Avenue. According to police, a woman was robbed at gunpoint after two black males jumped from the bushes. Police believe the men were hiding at the Walnut/Center street intersection waiting for people to get off of the bus. Police could not find the men, who took off with the woman's purse.
  • A woman attempted to steal reading glasses from Giant Eagle, and she will be privately prosecuted.
Aug. 2
  • Rhiannon Zuhone, 19, was charged with theft after being accused of stealing $140 out of the cash register at Wendy's and quitting.
  • A Giant Eagle employee reported that another employee stole their cell phone.
Aug. 3
  • A set of keys was reported stolen from Planet Fitness.
  • A woman reported her purse was stolen at CW Price.
Aug. 4
  • A man took off with vitamins and a cell phone charger from K-Mart.
  • An 11-year old attempted to steal an air soft gun from K-Mart.
Aug. 6
  • A hit-and-run accident was reported on Edgewood Avenue at Maple Avenue.
  • Tina Mazza, 44, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and three traffic violations after a traffic stop on South Braddock Avenue.
Aug. 7
  • A Gordon Street resident reported both of his vehicles had been broken into overnight. Change and CDs were missing.
  • Clothes, CDs, change, cookies and auto manuals were stolen from a vehicle on Maple Avenue.
  • A water main break occurred in front of 181 Gordon Street, causing the roadway to buckle. The road was closed between Chestnut and Westmoreland.
Aug. 8
  • Two male juveniles stole three BB guns and pellets from K-Mart. They were caught running down Shoyer Avenue in Swissvale.
  • A man attempted to steal cold medicine from Giant Eagle. He will be privately prosecuted.
  • A BB gun was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Oakview Avenue.
