University of Pittsburgh Mobile Science Lab Visits East Catholic School

Students in four grades at the Forest Hills school spend the week with the sophisticated science lab.

The University of Pittsburgh's Mobile Science Lab is spending this week at East Catholic School in Forest Hills. Students in grades five through eight will get a chance to experience the Mobile Science Lab, which is part of The University of Pittsburgh and the CTSI Clinical + Translational Science Institute. The Mobile Science Lab is an 80-foot long  truck equipped as a sophisticated science lab that goes to schools and community events to teach students and the public about new biomedical findings.  East Catholic science teacher Angelo Lamanti, along with Barbara Paul, University of Pittsburgh/CTSI Mobile Lab education facilitator, are having the sixth- through eighth-grade students take part in a lab titled Zebrafish Caffeine Lab. Former NFL and Pitt Player from Penn Hills Among Victims in Money-Bilking Schemes

Investigators say Robert Osselborn charged former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Tom Tumulty for a trip to Jackson Hole, WY, that never materialized.

A Butler County man faces charges in three counties for bilking thousands of dollars from multiple victims, including a former NFL player who was once a star player for Penn Hills High School. Authorities said Robert Osselborn—who lists addresses in Mars, Butler and New Castle, Lawrence County—posed as a representative of a television show about hunting to entice former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Tom Tumulty, now of Adams Township, to give him money. In exchange, Osselborn promised Tumulty a spot in a group trip to Jackson Hole, WY and said the trip could be recorded and aired on the show, according to investigators.. “He was very legitimate and very detailed about the hunting story,” Tumulty said Tuesday. Free Transit to Continue for Pitt Students, Staff

The Port Authority and the University of Pittsburgh reached an agreement for the next five years.

Port Authority of Allegheny County and the University of Pittsburgh have reached a new agreement that will provide pre-paid transit access for approximately 40,000 students, faculty and staff for the next five years, including the many who live in the Forest Hills-Regent Square area. The agreement, approved by Port Authority's Board of Directors Friday, provides for annual reimbursements by the university based on recorded usage by its students, staff and faculty.
