Meet Mumford! A Pit Bull-Terrier mix who needs a new home.
Mumford, a one-year-old Pit Bull-Terrier mix, came to the Animal Rescue League as a stray. ARL employees say he is timid and is getting used to the excitement of the kennel, as the new sights and sounds are a bit scary. According to ARL, Mumford does walk well on a leash and takes treats well. For more information about Mumford, call 412-661-6452 ext 215. Mumford's adoption fee is $115. ________________________ "Like" Patch on Facebook. | Follow us on Twitter . | Sign up for our daily email newsletter.

This pretty kitty needs a new home!
Those lovely eyes belong to Angel, a 7-year-old Domestic Shorthair/Mix. Angel, who is at the Animal Rescue League, loves to be petted, brushed and cuddled. She was taken to the animal shelter because she was having trouble getting along with her former family's dog. If you have no other pets in your home (she has never lived with other cats), could you provide a place for Angel to retire before kitten season arrives? If you have any questions, contact catladycam@gmail.com.

This is the perfect time to adopt a new member of the family!
The Animal Rescue League is hosting a "Free Fur All" adoption day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 at its East Liberty shelter. For qualified adopters, the shelter is offering free adoptions of pets in an effort to empty its kennels. The event is in conjunction with the ASPCA's $100K Challenge. The challenge aims to inspire shelters—and those who support them—to go above and beyond to increase pet adoption, reunite lost dogs with their families and save more animals' lives. Free micro-chipping, dog baths and educational programs also will be offered that day. Games, food and prizes also will be offered. Animal Rescue League is located at 6620 Hamilton Avenue in the East Liberty area. For more information, call 412-345-7300.

The Pirates are winning and have a team slogan of "Zoltan"—make this guy a winner, too!
This is Zoltan. Zoltan was surrendered to the Animal Rescue League because his owner had landlord issues. Zoltan is a friendly guy who smiles a lot. Zoltan passed his temperament test with flying colors, and we think that he would be good for first time dog owners. It is recommended that he attend obedience classes to teach him how not to jump up on people and various other things. Obedience training is an excellent way to bond with your dog, and also helps with socialization of your dog with other dogs, and with other people. ARL offers training classes at the shelter. Zoltan is waiting for his chance at final and permanent forever home. Can you give him the love he needs? Come and meet this handsome guy today at the Animal Rescue League…

This girl needs a forever home. Could you be her new owner?
This one year old pit mix is Peppy! Peppy is happy to have a second chance at a great home! As her name suggests, Peppy has lots of energy and likes to be active, but she's also a sound sleeper who loves to cuddle. She rides well in the car, walks fairly nicely on a leash, and appears to be house trained. She loves to get out and meet new people, as well as other dogs, and she definitely loves playtime! Peppy is very attentive to her handler, listens well, learns quickly and makes great eye contact. Peppy already knows the command for sit, and she is eager to learn other new skills. She recently went on an overnight stay with one of Animal Rescue League's volunteers, and was perfectly behaved the entire time. Peppy is a sweet, fun girl who…

Tammy is a playful 3 year old pittie mix who came in to the Animal Rescue League as a stray. With her sweet face and friendly personality, she quickly made a lot of friends among the volunteers and staff. Tammy rides well in the car, loves to play, and gives lots of kisses. She responds to 'sit' and walks decently on leash. She gets along well with other dogs and just loves people. Tammy recently had the honor of appearing on the Pittsburgh Today Live show on KDKA-TV | CBS Pittsburgh during a broadcast about an ARL fundraiser event. She was totally at ease in front of the camera, happily chewing on her stuffed toy. She also made a special appearance at the recent Mutters Day Canine Fashion show held at the Priory Hotel. Here, she calmly …

This little pup is in search of a loving home!
This cute little puppy is Dollie! Dollie is a 5-month-old Terrier/American Pit Bull mix, and she weighs 23 pounds. She was adopted and returned to the shelter because she did not like the cats in the household. Dollie shouldn't go to a home with cats this time around. She seems to like dogs at the shelter, though. She is a sweet little pup who is very affectionate, and she is a good bet for first-time dog owners. This little girl is ready for another chance at her forever home. Come and meet this cutie today. For more information about Dollie, please contact her volunteer friend Laura at lauralatini54@yahoo.com. Dollie's adoption fee is $180. Say hello to Fox. He was surrendered to the Animal Rescue League in Pittsburgh because his owner didn't have enough time for him. Fox lived with children and loves to play, especially with balls. He does have a slight food guarding issue, so the ARL would recommend a home with older children. He knows a few commands like sit and down, and he walks well on the leash. His previous owners said that he had been having some accidents in the house recently, so he needs to be in a home with people that have time for him and can provide consistency. The ARL workers also noted that Fox has a tendency to escape if given the option, so either a fenced yard or leash walking is needed to keep this cute little dog safe. Given his long coat, Fox is a dog…
