Fugitive on Run for 12 Years Arrested in Swissvale Friday

Neal Jones was among 10 Mon Valley suspects who were part of Tremaine 'Munch' Briston’s drug ring arrested by Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics investigators in 2001.

Neal Jones, 56, a fugitive who had been on the run for nearly 12 years, was arrested without incident at approximately 12:30 pm. Friday in the 2000 block of Noble Street in Swissvale by the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force. Jones was wanted on an Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas bench warrant issued on April 27, 2001 for multiple counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Jones was among 10 Mon Valley suspects who were part of Tremaine “Munch” Briston’s drug ring arrested by Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigators on Feb. 8, 2001.  The ring was reportedly responsible for distributing approximately $7 million of drugs during a three-year investigation. Police Apprehend Suspects in Forest Hills Burglary

The duo fled from the scene of a break-in on Woodside Road Jan. 14 but were arrested after a search by Forest Hills police, assisted by other local departments.

Demond D. Hayes, 20, is facing charges of receiving stolen property, burglary and criminal mischief filed by Forest Hills police in connection with a burglary Jan. 14 in the 300 block of Woodside Road. A preliminary hearing on the charges is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge Thomas Caulfield in his Forest Hills courtroom. A juvenile male is also facing charges in connection with the break-in. About 11:14 p.m. last Monday, two Forest Hills officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a Woodside Road home. The dispatcher had reported the homeowner was chasing two men, dressed in black, down Woodside toward Cherry Valley Road. Judge Caulfield Handles Case Involving Crack Cocaine

Howard James Morrison, 38 of North Braddock was held for court on charges of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered after a hearing Dec. 12 before District Judge Thomas Caulfield in Forest Hills. A car traveling on Woodstock Avenue at Woodstock Terrace proceeded through a clearly posted stop sign. After a traffic stop, a Swisssvale officer noticed the front seat passenger, Morrison, sitting with his hands in his pockets. A narcotics officer noticed a suspicious bulge under his shirt near the waistband of his trousers and believed Morrison might be carrying a weapon. Former Central Catholic Counselor Waives Hearing on Drug Charges

Kelly Scherer, 36, is out of jail but is accused of selling heroin to an undercover cop.

A former Central Catholic High School guidance counselor is out of jail and has waived a preliminary hearing on heroin-related charges. Last week, Kelly Scherer, 36, waived a preliminary hearing on charges of conspiracy; two counts of intent to possess a controlled substance; and four counts of manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance before District Justice Thomas Caulfield. Forest Hills police are accusing Scherer of dealing heroin and selling it to an undercover police officer from her Sumner Avenue apartment. According to a criminal complaint filed by the Forest Hills Police Department, Scherer was being investigated back in 2011. Wave Pool Employee Charged with Corruption of Minors

An employee of the Boyce Park Wave Pool in Monroeville allegedly showed a pornographic photo to a teen on Saturday.

Allegheny County police have charged a Boyce Park Wave Pool concession stand employee who allegedly showed a pornographic photo to a teen over the weekend. Sheldon B. Morris, 47, of Duquesne was charged with dissemination of pornography to minors and corruption of minors. According to KDKA, Morris called over a 15-year-old boy Saturday and showed the boy a photo of his penis on his cellphone. Morris was being held in Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $10,000 straight bond. The Wave Pool is located in Monroeville near the Plum Borough border.
