Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing Rain & Snow Predicted for Forest Hills-Regent Square

A wintry mix of precipitation is expected to begin Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh region, including Forest Hills-Regent Square, from 11 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. Monday. A period of snow and freezing rain is expected overnight Sunday, before changing to all rain by Monday afternoon. A winter weather advisory means that snow, sleet or freezing rain will make travel difficult. National Weather Service Warns of Freezing Rain, Icy Roads

NWS issues winter weather advisory.

Expect freezing rain and ice accumulations of about a tenth of an inch on Friday. That's the word from the National Weather Service. It issued a winter weather advisory that is in effect from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The freezing rain is expected to begin between 6 and 8 a.m. and end between 1 and 3 p.m. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous travel conditions because of ice-covered roads. Winds of 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph are also forecast. Winter Weather Advisory: Mixture of Snow, Sleet, and Freezing Rain Predicted for Morning Rush

The storm is expected to begin after midnight.

There could be very little rush to the Monday morning rush hour. The National Weather service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for most of Western Pennsylvania, including Ross Township and West View. A mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday morning. Because of a very cold ground and snow pack, roads and sidewalks are expected to be icy. Winter Weather Advisory: 4-6 Inches of Snow Possible for Forest Hills-Regent Square

Snow, Wintery Mix in Forest Hills-Regent Square Forecast

A winter weather advisory has been issued for our area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Allegheny County—Forest Hills-Regent Square area included—beginning Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected in our area, and the advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of snow, along with a light glaze from freezing rain is expected. The weather could cause hazardous travel conditions due to snow, sleet and ice-covered roads. Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Forest Hills-Regent Square Area

As much as 3 inches of snow is expected within a 12-hour window, the National Weather Service has indicated.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Forest Hills-Regent Square area from 3 a.m. through 3 p.m. Saturday. An accumulation of between 2 and 4 inches is expected. “Light snow will overspread the area late tonight with an inch possible by dawn,” the website stated. “Light snow will continue to fall into the afternoon with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible.” Temperatures are expected to hover in the upper 20s and low 30s Saturday, according to the NWS. UPDATE: Winter Weather Advisory Warns of Blowing Snow

The National Weather Service issued the advisory for Allegheny, Butler, Beaver and other counties in the region.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service forecasts 3 to 5 inches of snow in its updated winter weather advisory issued at 10:05 p.m. Thursday. The weather service forecasts rain will change to light snow late Thursday and the snow intensity will increase Friday afternoon and night. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow and warns that travel will be difficult because of slippery roads and reduced visibility. The advisory is in effect from late Thursday night into Saturday for Allegheny, Butler, Beaver and other counties in the Pittsburgh metropolitan region as well as Ohio and West Virginia. Let It Snow—Winter Weather Advisory in Effect through Tuesday Night

The snow keeps falling today after a dry December.

While December left us with more fall-like temperatures and a mostly snow-free month, the first week of the new year is bringing on the winter precipitation. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory that is in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening. An additional one to three inches of snow is expected this evening in the Pittsburgh area. Snow has been falling rapidly in the Regent Square and Forest Hills areas as roads also are becoming covered and slippery. Please be cautious while driving.
