Though it's officially spring, it seems as though the Forest Hills-Regent Square area will experience some more winter weather. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire Pittsburgh region, including Forest Hills, Regent Square, Edgewood and Swissvale. The warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Sunday through 11 a.m. Monday. Snow is expected to be most intense from midnight Sunday through the pre-dawn hours of Monday, accumulating 4 to 7 inches before ending by Monday afternoon. Heavy snow could make traveling hazardous. The storm that will hit the Forest Hills-Regent Square area is expected to begin as a mixture of rain and snow before turning to all snow overnight.
The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a winter storm warning for the Pittsburgh region, including Forest Hills, Edgewood and Swissvale, from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 5 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters say snow will accumulate 5 to 8 inches before the storm ends Wednesday afternoon. The period of most intense snow will be between midnight Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. The South Hills of Pittsburgh and other areas south and east of the city could get up to 8 inches. Even heavier snow is expected to fall in the Laurel Highlands of Fayette, Westmoreland and Somerset counties. Neighborhoods west of Pittsburgh are expected to get a little bit less. Weather forecasters issue a winter storm warning for the Pittsburgh metro area through 6 a.m. Thursday.
If you've been hoping for a winter wonderland, you've got it! The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Allegheny County, effective from 5 a.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday. Four to eight inches of snow are expected to accumulate throughout the day, with heavy snow occurring mid-Wednesday morning through the afternoon. Sleet and freezing rain are also expected. Visibility for motorists could be limited to a quarter-of-a-mile during heavy snows, according to the NWS. Hazardous travel conditions are expected. It's going to be a snowy weekend! If you just shoveled your driveway or sidewalk, get ready to do it again. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a wintery mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow, going into effect at 7 tonight and ending at 1 p.m. Saturday. The area is supposed to get 1/4-inch of ice and 1 to 4 inches of snow total. Tonight's low is 24 degrees, with a high of 32 Saturday. PennDOT announced that it's preparing for the "mixed-precipitation winter event" that is set to hit the area tonight and tomorrow. Officials said crews will begin pre-treating and anti-icing the roadways Tuesday afternoon through the evening.
