East Catholic School Celebrates Catholic Schools Week Jan. 27-Feb. 2
The week-long observance at the Forest Hills school includes a number of activities and special events for the school, parish and community.
Though Catholic Schools Week is an annual tradition in parochial schools nationwide, for East Catholic School in Forest Hills this time will be special. The reason: It is the first year for the school and the first opportunity to share what's been happening the last five months with the parishes that support the school—and the communities East Catholic serves. The theme of this year's national Catholic Schools Week—Jan. 27 to Feb. 2—is "Catholic Schools Raise the Standards." The theme highlights the recent launch of a new initiative, the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools, to ensure consistent high standards at Catholic schools across the country.
