South Braddock Avenue On-Ramp to Inbound Parkway East Closed This Weekend

The ramp closure will occur from 9 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday.

The ramp from northbound (traveling toward Edgewood) South Braddock Avenue to the westbound/inbound Parkway East (I-376) in Edgewood and Swissvale boroughs will be closed this weekend, March 8-11, weather permitting.  Southbound (traveling toward Swissvale) traffic on South Braddock Avenue will still be able to access westbound I-376. The ramp closure will occur from 9 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday, according to PennDOT spokesman Jim Struzzi. Signs will be posted to guide motorists. Crews will be replacing expansion dams. Daylight detour (6 a.m. to 8 p.m.)  Night detour (8 p.m. to 6 a.m.) Please allow extra time when traveling through the area and consider alternate routes. PennDOT Unveils Construction Projects

This year’s PennDOT construction work will include $282 million worth of road and bridge improvement projects. The biggest projects are reconstruction of the Squirrel Hill Tunnels and Liberty Tubes. Find out if the roads you travel on will be fixed.

This year’s PennDOT construction work will include $282 million worth of road and bridge improvement projects that hit every corner of Allegheny County. About half of the money being spent on road projects in the county will be spent on bridge reconstruction. PennDOT District 11 Executive Dan Cessna said during a press conference last week that the “most impactful” project in the Pittsburgh area will be reconstruction of the outbound lanes of the Squirrel Tunnels. That project is expected to cost close to $50 million and will include weekend closures beginning on March 22. There will also be various single-lane closures during nights to allow for work. PennDOT Plans Work on Roads in Churchill, Braddock Hills, North Braddock

Beulah Road and Brinton Road on the maintenance schedule for this week.

PennDOT will be performing some maintenance on roadways in the Patch area. Crews will be working on drainage improvements on Beulah Road between Old Beulah Road and Churchill Road in Churchill Borough. PennDOT will also perform pipe and inlet cleaning on Brinton Road in Braddock Hills and North Braddock between Maple and Pallas avenues. PennDOT advises motorists to use caution, slow down and anticipate changing traffic patterns, lane closures and possible delays when traveling through the area.  Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility. PennDOT District 11 will continue to conduct pipe and inlet cleaning on Brinton Road in Braddock Hills this week between Maple Avenue in Edgewood and Pallas Avenue. The road work is scheduled for the week of Jan. 14 to 18, weather permitting. Lane closures and restrictions should be expected in work areas. Parkway East Commercial Street Bridge Inspection Saturday and Sunday

Restrictions will be, as needed, from 6 a.m. to noon.

Short-term single lane closures on the westbound (inbound) Parkway East will occur on Saturday and Sunday mornings, Jan. 12 and 13, weather permitting. Crews will be inspecting the bridge that carries I-376 over Commercial Street between the Edgewood-Swissvale interchange and the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, according to PennDOT District 11 spokesman Jim Struzzi. Restrictions will occur as needed from 6 a.m. to noon both days. Crews from Mackin Engineering and the Sofis Rigging Co. will conduct the work. Parkway East Squirrel Hill Tunnel Lane Closures Resume Thursday Night

The work resumes tonight at 9 p.m.

Work to rehabilitate the Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East (I-376) will resume on Thursday night, Jan. 3. As a courtesy to motorists and travelers, traffic restrictions related to the rehabilitation project were postponed over the holiday season. The following schedule will resume Thursday night: Westbound (inbound) single lane traffic: Eastbound (outbound) single lane traffic: No westbound full closures are scheduled at this time.  The a $49.5 million project to rehabilitate the Squirrel Hill Tunnel includes updating electrical, lighting, air control and ventilation systems, structural repairs to the walls and arched ceiling, tile repairs, installation of a water line and other improvements. PennDOT Announces Squirrel Hill Tunnel Holiday Schedule

Squirrel Hill Tunnel rehabilitation work is suspended Saturday morning through Jan. 1; work resumes Jan. 2.

Work to rehabilitate the Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East (I-376) in the will continue through Saturday morning, Dec. 22. After Saturday morning, no restrictions related to the rehabilitation project will occur in the tunnel through the upcoming holidays. Outbound Squirrel Hill Tunnel Single Lane Closures Begin Wednesday

There will be single-lane traffic in the outbound tunnel along the Parkway East through Dec. 11.

Overnight single-lane traffic in the outbound (eastbound) Squirrel Hill Tunnel on the Parkway East (I-376) will begin on Wednesday night, Nov. 28. Single-lane traffic will occur in the outbound tunnel according to the following schedule through Dec. 11: According to PennDOT, crews will be conducting rehabilitation work in the tunnel and improvements to the Commercial Avenue Bridge. Motorists are advised to use caution and allow extra time when traveling through the area. The work is part of the $49.5 million Squirrel Hill Tunnel rehabilitation project.
