Here are the Edgewood police reports for May 10 to 16.
A 15-year-old riding a bicycle was hit by a motorist in Edgewood last week. On May 16, Edgewood police received reports that a motorist making a left turn into the borough building parking lot hit the teen, who was taken to Children's Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. As of Monday, the car's driver had not been charged with anything. Reminder, May is National Bike Month. For links to advocacy organizations, click here. Here are the Edgewood police reports for April 18 to 25.
A woman is facing charges after being accused of stealing $33 worth of items from an Edgewood clothing store. Jenna Orkwis, 33, was charged with retail theft. According to Edgewood police, she allegedly attempted to steal two shirts and a bottle of perfume from Rainbow at the Edgewood Towne Centre on April 23. The following incidents also were reported to Edgewood Police Department. April 20 Officers assisted the Wilkinsburg Police Department with a burglary. Two people were arrested after being accused of stealing copper piping. April 22 An employee of the Giant Eagle at Edgewood Towne Centre reported that she had been harassed by two females. Edgewood police officers were called to Edgewood Primary on April 16 after a 9-year-old student brought a portion of a plastic toy BB gun to school. The incident will be handled by the school administration. Here are the Edgewood police reports for March 22 to March 30.
Police continue to search for suspects involved in a March 30 shooting at the Edgewood Towne Centre. Three bystanders were injured during the shooting. Allegheny County homicide detectives have issued an arrest warrant for Tyron Manns, 23, of the North Braddock area. For more information, click here. Theft An East End Avenue reported a broken passenger side window on their vehicle on March 15. About $1 in change was stolen from the glove compartment. Assist Edgewood police assisted the Swissvale Police Department with a disturbance at Murrays Cafe on Noble Street. Barking dogs, sick raccoon, wanted man among other items from the Forest Hills police blotter last week.
Forest Hills police responded at 12:44 p.m. March 12 to a 911 call that a retail theft had just occurred at the Rite Aid at 2336 Ardmore Blvd. and the suspect was heading east on Ardmore Boulevard in a green Jeep. North Versailles police stopped the vehicle on Route 30. The vehicle registration came back to a man from Wilmerding. The Rite Aid manager told police that the man had come to the checkout counter and tried to return two bottles of cologne for cash. The man did not have a receipt and the security tags had been removed. As the manager questioned him and said he was going to contact police, the man left the store without the cologne bottles.
