Snow, Wintery Mix in Forest Hills-Regent Square Forecast

A winter weather advisory has been issued for our area.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Allegheny County—Forest Hills-Regent Square area included—beginning Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected in our area, and the advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of snow, along with a light glaze from freezing rain is expected. The weather could cause hazardous travel conditions due to snow, sleet and ice-covered roads. Motorists should use caution. Weather Outlook: Soggy Saturday, With Snow Possible Next Week

Here's what in store for us weather-wise this weekend and next week.

Did you enjoy a day of Capri pants, flip-flops and short-sleeved shirts? We hope so—because the National Weather Service’s outlook for the next few days looks far less sunny (both figuratively and literally). What’s on tap for this weekend? Showers, for starts on Saturday. Like, an 80 percent chance of them. The National Weather Service website also indicates that the high will be near 51 degrees today with possible precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch. The temperature is expected to dip to 41 degrees overnight. Sunday is expected to start a little warmer—48 degrees. But the National Weather Service said to expect more of the wet stuff. Farmers Market Hit by Sudden Storm

Visitors to opening day at the Forest Hills Farmers Market got a little rain with their bread, meat, sauce and veggies.

My son and I had been looking forward to visiting the Forest Hills Farmers Market since our last trip in the fall. So, of course, when we saw opening day was Friday, it was added to our nearly full calendar of "things to do." There was a slight drizzle about a half hour into opening day on Friday afternoon but we decided to take a chance and left the umbrellas behind. We realized our mistake as we paid for our asparagus and basil. That's when the deluge-that-wouldn't-stop happened. As the Wood Street Bakery seller tried to keep his breads from becoming sponges and the Sand Hill Berries staff attempted to protect their pies, Mother Nature brought a soaking rain down among the approximately 10 vendors and their customers gathered for their …
