Some dedicated volunteers finally track down the missing feline in Frick Park after a man recognized the cat from a Patch story.
Danielle, the pretty kitty missing after she escaped from a carrier near the Animal Nature shop in Regent Square on Oct. 16, is in a warm Forest Hills home today after being found Saturday in Frick Park. Danielle had last been seen at the corner of South Braddock Avenue and Guthrie Street, headed away from Frick Park and into the residential area. Volunteers, who had rescued Danielle after her former family got rid of her because she had fleas, were heartsick when they couldn't find her. Patch ran one story after Danielle escaped and a second one on Oct. 31, as volunteers were making a renewed effort to find her after Hurricane Sandy brought bad weather the first part of the week. Sandy Reech is "heartsick" that a homeless cat she'd hoped to find a home for is still missing after two weeks, particularly with this week's weather. "Danielle" escaped from a carrier near the Animal Nature shop at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. She was last seen at the corner of South Braddock Avenue and Guthrie Street, headed away from Frick Park and into the residential area. A domestic, short-hair cat, Danielle is mostly black with tuxedo-like markings on her chest, white on one side of her chin, green eyes and white paws. She also has a white chin and whiskers. A cat named "Danielle" escaped from a carrier near the Animal Nature shop at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. She was last seen at the corner of South Braddock Avenue and Guthrie Street, headed away from Frick Park and into the residential area. "She's in a totally different area than what she knows," said Sandy Reech, who had been instrumental in trying to find her a new home after her former family got rid of her because she had fleas. A long-haired black cat has been found on Westmoreland Avenue in Swissvale. Kate McGlynn shared the information on the Forest Hills-Regent Square Facebook page Monday morning. The male cat has a green collar with a bell.
