Carol Hill volunteers each week to pick up litter in her neighborhood
Carol Hill is cleaning up the streets of Swissvale one block at a time in an effort to show her neighbors that taking pride in the community requires action – and a lot of heart. "I just hope that one person will stop throwing trash down - that one person will help pick it up," Hill said. "That's my wish." Hill, 62, of Swissvale grew up in Regent Square and has two grown children who live in nearby communities. While she originally planned for a career in art, Hill attended the Ivy School of Commercial Art is Market Square, which no longer exists. Throughout her life, Hill had various jobs ranging from waitressing, to cleaning homes, to cashiering at Giant Eagle. While she stayed home to raise children, she has always been drawn to …
