A jazz concert fundraiser at August Wilson Center will feature Tony Mowod, as well as Pittsburgh jazz performers, and will benefit Familylinks.
Anyone for a little jazz to clear away the end-of-winter blues? Pittsburgh performers are in the lineup for the Just Jazz concert at the August Wilson Center on March 6, hosted by Familylinks, with Honorary Chair Chuck Sanders. Tickets are available now for this fundraising event, which benefits Familylinks. “I think this is such a worthwhile organization,” said Brookline resident Claudia Benack, a member of the music faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, who helped organize the event. “This is the first event like this and we’re hoping to do it annually.” Vocalist Lisa Yvonne Ferraro, a native Pittsburgher who now lives in the state of California, will bring back the swing of the Big Band era to the stage, performing with Mike Tomaro and…

“Home, Sweet Home,” is not just an age old aphorism. Many aging adults keep their independence and stay in their homes thanks to Familylinks.
Familylinks has a program that it wants to share wth seniors who want to remain in their homes. Options Care Management is a non-direct service that assists older adults (ages 60 and older) and their families through advocacy and referral to necessary support systems in the community. Marc Harrison, a social worker with the Familylinks Options Care Management program, checks in on many neighborhood seniors. Harrison services a wide geographical area and has a resident in the Forest Hills community using the program. The Rally for Recovery Walk/Run is Sept. 8 at Frick Park, plus the local nonprofit Familylinks is celebrating the initiative by offering two free workshops this month.

Two hundred seniors in this program will be receiving holiday gifts as a result of a partnership between FamilyLinks and the Woodland Hills School District. Since late September, "Giving Trees" have been in the lobbies of our Junior High and High School and they are adorned with cards that have first names and wish lists.
