Swissvale Police Warn of Water Company Impersonators
However, the Facebook version of the message conveys a very different scenario.
The Swissvale Police Department is advising residents to be aware of several individuals impersonating water company employees. The individuals come to the house in a group of three or four, distract the home owner while they check the water lines, and commit theft. If anyone comes to your house claiming to be a water/utility company employee without an appointment, do not let them in. Call the water/utility company to verify who they are, even if they produce identification, or call 911 and request the police. Ironically, the Facebook version of this message, which was sent out by police on Nixle, a notification service for law enforcement and government agencies, conveys a different message. Buffalo Wild Wings Gun Ban: What Do You Think?
Commenters express outrage on the business’s Facebook page after some of the company-owned restaurants post signs prohibiting guns on the premises.
Buffalo Wild Wings is attracting controversy after some of the chain’s company-owned restaurants began posting signs banning guns on the property. KDKA reports photos taken at restaurants around the nation are popping up on social media sites of signs that say guns are not allowed inside the buildings. No such sign was at the Buffalo Wild Wings on Route 22 in Wilkins Township over the weekend. The move has sparked outrage on the company’s official Facebook page. "It's your right to disarm your customers as is our right to go eat elsewhere from now on to prevent becoming a victim,” said one poster. “I changed banks for the same reason.” In a statement to KDKA, Buffalo Wild Wings' corporate headquarters said that while the company “respects …

Woodland Hills Senior Lauded for Taking Stand for District
Maddy Adams responded to last week's afterschool brawls in Swissvale by posting her own take on Woodland Hills on WPXI-TV's Facebook page.
When you hear the words "champion" and "Woodland Hills" in the same sentence, the first thought is one of the high school sports teams. That was not the case Wednesday night when Woodland Hills School Board lauded high school senior Maddy Adams for being a champion of the district—using the written word. Substitute Superintendent Alan Johnson did not directly address the brawls that broke out in Swissvale last week as Woodland Hills High School students exited their bus near the corner of South Braddock and Woodstock avenues. PennDOT’s newly launched Facebook page gives Pennsylvanians even more ways to interact with the agency and find valuable transportation news and tips. “As social media becomes more popular with our customers, they rightfully expect that they can find information in ways they’re used to receiving it,” PennDOT Secretary Barry J.
