Route 30 Ramp to Electric Avenue Closed Through May 15

Motorists should use caution, slow down and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.

The eastbound Route 30 (Ardmore Boulevard) off-ramp to Electric Avenue in North Braddock will be closed for just over a week. The closure, which began on May 3, is necessary for crews to continue work on the bridge that carries westbound Route 30 over Electric Avenue. The ramp will be closed to traffic continuously through Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. The overall project will be completed in fall 2013. About 3,386 vehicles use the ramp on an average day. New Eastbound Route 30 Bridge at Electric Avenue Opens Tuesday Afternoon

The westbound bridge will be replaced next year.

The new bridge that carries eastbound Route 30 (Ardmore Boulevard) over Electric Avenue in North Braddock Borough will open on Tuesday, Nov. 20, weather permitting. Jim Struzzi, PennDOT District 11 spokesman, said traffic on eastbound Route 30, just over the Forest Hills border, has been crossed over onto the westbound lanes since early April. Initially, the new eastbound bridge will open to a single lane of traffic by late afternoon Tuesday. Westbound traffic will also remain in single lane. In addition, the eastbound off-ramp to Electric Avenue will reopen Tuesday. Through Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon, crews will work to remove all long-term restrictions in this area. Work Set Thursday and Monday for Electric Avenue Bridge on Eastbound Route 30

The new beams for the bridge will require traffic stoppages as they are transported from the Parkway East along Ardmore Boulevard through Forest Hills.

Work to place beams for the new bridge carrying eastbound Route 30 over Electric Avenue in North Braddock Borough will occur on Thursday, Sept. 13, and Monday, Sept. 17, weather permitting. Ten 150-foot long concrete beams (five each day) will be delivered to the project during the day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday and Monday. The beams will be delivered from Blair County through Westmoreland County using Route 22 to the inbound (westbound) Parkway East (I-376) to the Forest Hills/Wilkinsburg exit to access Route 30. Motorists should expect to encounter possible delays and traffic stoppages as the delivery will require difficult maneuvering through the interchange. Route 30 Long-Term Restrictions at Electric Avenue Begin March 15

If you drive through the Forest Hills area, be aware of these restrictions.

Long-term single lane traffic on Route 30 in the area of the bridges over Electric Avenue (Route 2112) in North Braddock and Chalfant boroughs begins this Thursday. Single lane closures in each direction will begin at approximately 9 a.m. Crews will be constructing a temporary crossover in the median. Work to construct the crossover will take about three weeks. Once this work is complete, traffic on eastbound Route 30 will be crossed over on the westbound lanes. Traffic will remain a single lane in each direction on the westbound lanes through late November while crews reconstruct the eastbound bridge. Forest Hills Traffic Advisory

Keep this in mind as you plan your routes.

Construction will begin on or around Feb. 13 on Route 30 near Electric Avenue. The Eastbound off-ramp/Electric Avenue traffic will be detoured onto a posted route. Expect delays and consider planning an alternative route. The project lasts through November 2012.  There will also be single lane traffic.
