Kelly School Teacher Tasered in Wilkinsburg Carjacking

A teacher at Kelly Elementary School was shot in the head with a Taser as thieves took her Honda Odyssey minivan Monday morning.

A man attacked a Kelly Elementary School teacher with a Taser on Monday morning about 7:45 a.m. as she was parking her minivan on McNair Street, adjacent to the school on Kelly Avenue in Wilkinsburg. WTAE-TV is reporting that the stolen vehicle is a green 2004 Honda Odyssey with Pennsylvania license plate ECG-8414. For the story from WTAE, click here. I'm sorry to hear this happened and I hope the teacher is OK. I live just a block from here and I've often wondered why school staff parks on the residential streets rather than in the school parking lot? Isn't there sufficient parking? Do they feel it's safer on residential streets rather than on school grounds? (We now know the answer to that!) Are they just too lazy and try to find parking …   more ›

Forest Hills Police Charge Father-Son in Burglaries

This and other Forest Hills Borough police news from the last week.

Forest Hills police arrested a father and son in connection with the burglary of homes on Sumner and Marion avenues in Forest Hills during August and September, according to police Chief Chuck Williams. The father, Anthony J. Morgavo, 57, of 143 Sumner Ave., Forest Hills was charged with receiving stolen property in connection with a burglary on Sept. 7. His son, Michael Matthew Morgavo, 23, of the same address, was arrested and charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking for the same Sept. 7 burglary. For another break-in on Aug. 26, he faces a charge of burglary and five counts of theft by unlawful taking. Both men were scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Judge Thomas Caulfield on Oct. 3, but the hearings have been …
