Wilkinsburg Citizen's Police Academy Begins March 19

The academy enables residents to better understand local law enforcement.

Wilkinsburg Police Department will offer a Citizen’s Police Academy to residents this spring. The free instructional program will be held every Tuesday from March 19 through May 28 in the third floor auditorium of the Wilkinsburg Borough Building, 605 Ross Ave. Classes will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Now in its eighth year, the Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to give local citizens a hand-guided tour into the world of local law enforcement, and educate them on the purpose and rationale of police procedures. Residents also can earn certifications in CPR and first aid. CRP/AED Demonstration Tuesday in Regent Square

Swissvale and Edgewood borough are offering the demonstration and a chance to sign up for CPR classes and certification.

Swissvale and Edgewood boroughs are presenting a Holiday Season CPR & AED (Defibrilator) demonstration at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday), Nov. 27, at the United Cerebral Palsy UCP/CLAS Building, 1400 South Braddock Ave. Residents will have the chance to sign up for CPR classes and certification. Among those on hand for tonight's demonstration are Swissvale Councilman Mike Epitropoulos, a sudden cardiac arrest survivor; Pitt K-9 Officer Dave Nanz; Brian Maloney, coordinator of EMS education for UPMC; Mike Volpe, a Swissvale Fire Department paramedic ; Steve Halle, president, Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department and  EMTs, fire and police officers from the Regent Square communities. _______________________ Forest Hills-Regent Square Patch is on …
