Edward Jones Firm Hires Dave Havern for Regent Square Office

He will be a financial advisor for the South Braddock Avenue office.

The financial services firm Edward Jones has hired Dave Havern as the new financial advisor for the Regent Square branch office located at 1133 S. Braddock Ave. "We're very proud to have Dave represent us in Regent Square," said Jim Weddle, the firm's managing partner. "The people of this community have grown to rely on our firm for their investment needs, and I am confident he will continue our outstanding tradition by providing one-on-one service." Group Discusses Possible Revamp of Swissvale's Business District

The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) met to discuss how to improve and expand Swissvale’s businesses.

After council’s approval to move forward with Part I of a propose streetscape plan, Swissvale's EDAC group has shifted its focus to motivating and fostering local businesses. The think tank of businessmen and residents discussed several ideas to improve Swissvale’s business sector during their meeting last night, including appealing to new businesses, creating welcome baskets and improving safety. “The more people we get here and the more energy, the more projects we can take on,” said Darrell Rapp, councilman and EDAC member. Rapp said he sees EDAC transitioning into a forum to discuss the smaller issues that sometimes affect businesses in a big way and that council can’t always address. Swissvale Business Roundtable Discusses Development, Streetscape Project

Local leaders and business owners recently gathered.

On June 13 at JR’s Restaurant more than 40 people attended the initial Swissvale Business Roundtable meeting, co-sponsored by Swissvale Borough and the enterprise zone serving Braddock, North Braddock, Rankin and Swissvale.  Plans for business district revitalization were presented by Klavon Design Associates, Inc.—consultant to the borough.  Information on financial incentives available through the Enterprise Zone was discussed and distributed. Swissvale Mayor Deneen Swartzwelder said she was happy with the turnout. “We have been working on plans and strategies to improve the central business district along Washington Street, Noble Street and Monongahela Avenue," she said. Typhoon Construction Progresses

Regent Square business creating addition on South Braddock Avenue

In a construction project that broke ground Nov. 18, a new addition to the space at Typhoon Lighting on South Braddock Avenue is making progress. Crews have been working on the space each day, protecting it with a chain-link fence. When completed, the building will triple in size. The entire project is expected to be done this spring.
