The image of a little girl on a grocery shopping trip with her mother—then suddenly gone. That was happened the day of March 9, 1982 when Melody Childs Thomas told police that her daughter, Nicole Lynn Bryner, 3, had been abducted from a shopping cart at the Giant Eagle supermarket on the South Side of Pittsburgh. Though there were extensive searches, no trace of Nicole was ever found. Then, in 1986, Timothy Widman, Childs' boyfriend at the time, allegedly confessed he had punched Bryner and accidentally killed her. When the new season of ‘Ink Master’ premiers on Spike TV in October, it will feature artist Sarah Miller of Wyld Chyld Tattoo. The shop manager is one of 16 ‘Ink Master’ contestants trying for a $100,000 grand prize. She also is responsible for the interior design of the shop, and the logo she designed for the Brookline store is becoming standard at all Wyld Chyld locations. With the show set …

Brookline author and nutritionist Lindsey Smith offers class to help jump start your healthy spring season.
A Brookline author is offering a nutrition class this month that will give participants the chance to do some spring cleaning on body and soul. Lindsey Smith, author of “Junk Foods and Junk Moods,” will host a two-week online Spring Cleanse program that she said will give students a jump start into a healthier lifestyle. Registration ends Friday. “Cleansing is really important because basically we live in a toxic world,” Smith said. “With the chemicals in our food, air, water, homes, those things build up in our bodies. Especially in our fast paced world, we’re kind of going, going, going, and we don’t take time to detox and kind of let our bodies breathe for a minute.” Smith currently is a keynote speaker and one-on-one health coach for "…

Brookline author Lindsey Smith will hold a book release party at Sugar Café on Feb. 23.
Lindsey Smith was at the airport a few years ago when she saw someone binge eating all the wrong things. At first, she said, she was judgmental. But then she remembered that not long before, she’d been loyal to the same bad habits. “At that moment I realized that food was much more than what we put in our bodies,” Smith said. “It’s our careers, religion, self esteem, self love. All those things feed us in different ways.” The airport incident was one of the events that inspired the Brookline health coach to write her first book, “Junk Foods and Junk Moods: Stop Craving and Start Living.” This Thursday, Smith will hold a book release party at Sugar Café in Dormont. Smith currently is a keynote speaker and one-on-one health coach for "The …
