Alberta Slaczka, 67, has died after being hit by a school bus last week.
A woman who was hit by a school bus in Forest Hills last week has died, according to WTAE. Alberta Slaczka, 67, of Wilkins underwent surgery at UPMC Mercy for a broken hip and broken ribs following the May 1 accident on Greensburg Pike. Ernest Brevard, 71, is accused of hitting Slaczka with his bus and leaving the scene of the accident. According to court documents, he faces charges of accidents involving death or personal injury, immediate notice of accident to police, false reports, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to stop at a stop sign. Allegheny County police filed the charges. His preliminary hearing before Forest Hills District Judge Thomas Caulfield was scheduled for today. The rescheduled date is unknown at this time…

The 71-year-old denies the charges.
Allegheny County police arrested a 71-year-old school bus driver suspected of striking a woman in Forest Hills with his vehicle and taking off, according to WTAE. Ernest Brevard of Lawrenceville is accused of driving the small bus that hit 67-year-old Alberta "Bunny" Slaczka, who remains in critical condition. Police conducted an extensive investigation following the Wednesday morning accident. Allegheny County Chief of Emergency Services Alvin Henderson, Jr. and Allegheny County Police Superintendent Charles Moffatt urge residents to continue to remain vigilant in their communities and if they see something, say something. Allegheny County police have issued an arrest warrant for Darryl Reaves.
Allegheny County Homicide Detectives have issued an arrest warrant in connection with a homicide in Rankin last weekend. Darryl Reaves, 34,is accused of fatally shooting Tyrone Milton, 50, of Braddock after an argument at the Deb's Place bar in Rankin on April 7. Reaves has been charged with criminal homicide, criminal attempt-criminal homicide, aggravated assault, a weapons violation and two counts of recklessly endangering another person, according to court documents. He is described as a black male approximately 6’2” tall and 180 pounds. He has a receding hairline and tattoos on the backs of his hands. The right hand bears the letter D and the left hand bears the letter R. Reaves is said to have ties to the Braddock and Rankin areas. …

Tyron David Manns, 23, of East Pittsburgh is facing several charges.
A man accused of being involved in a shooting at Edgewood Towne Centre has surrendered to police. According to Allegheny County Police Lt. Andrew Schurman, Tyron David Manns, 23, surrendered himself to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office fugitive squad Thursday afternoon. Police has issued an arrest warrant for Manns, an East Pittsburgh resident, on April 1 after a March 30 shooting at Edgewood Towne Centre. Three bystanders were injured during the incident. Manns has been charged with criminal attempt-criminal homicide, carrying a firearm without a license, aggravated assault and four counts of recklessly endangering another person. His preliminary hearing before District Justice Kim Hoots has been scheduled for April 18 at 8:30 a.m. …

Police reportedly say a woman was shot to death in Wilkinsburg on Wednesday morning.
Allegheny County Police are seeking help in identifying a homicide victim in Wilkinsburg. According to the Post-Gazette, a woman was found shot to death on a South Trenton Avenue around 2:45 Wednesday morning. County police Lt. Andrew Schurman reports that police have been unable to identify the woman because the trauma to her face was too severe and she does not have any fingerprints on file. The victim is described as a black female in her 20s. She was 4’10 tall and weighed approximately 300 pounds. She was wearing a shoulder length weave in her hair, gray sweat pants and a long sleeve white tee shirt. A Hill District man was arrested in Wilkinsburg Thursday.
A man from the Hill District accused of shooting and killing a man in McKeesport earlier this year was found in a Wilkinsburg basement on Thursday. Homicide suspect Mark Leonard, 32, was found hiding in the basement of a residence in the 1200 block of Morrow Street at approximately 9:40 a.m. According to a press release from the U.S. Marshals, he was found trying to secrete himself above furnace duct work in an attempt to get away from police. U.S. Marshals found him and arrested him. Wilkinsburg police officers assisted. Allegheny County Police charged Leonard with criminal homicide and several firearms offenses for his alleged involvement in the Jan. 11 shooting death of Jayemond Bailey inside the Street Stars Bar in McKeesport. …

Allegheny County police have charged a 19-year-old with rape.
A 19-year-old Swissvale resident will face rape charges in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Allegheny County police have charged Russell Jeremy Valdez with rape and sexual assault after a Jan. 6 incident. A preliminary hearing before Forest Hills District Justice Thomas Caulfield was scheduled for March 20, and he was held for court. Valdez is accused of sexually assaulting and raping an acquaintance at a Monongahela Avenue residence. Valdez is being held at the Allegheny County Jail. Bail is set at $100,000. Edgewood police answered a call March 10 after a resident reported finding a bat in a Rockwell Lane house. Officers were able to remove the creature from the residence.
