Volunteering keeps her moving—and she loves people.

“I think it is the best thing in the world,” she said. “You get to find out what is going on in your town and you get to meet people. The library is like a hub.”

At Meals on Wheels, she drives and delivers to the high rise for seniors in Swissvale.

“These ladies are marvelous—we can’t leave because we end up spending a half hour with each one of them—but I am going to be 85, so it’s not that I am young,” she said with a smile.

Elliott volunteers about 14 hours a week at the Swissvale Library and every Friday morning with Meals on Wheels.

“Everyone is so nice,” she said. “You get out of the house and you get to meet people.”
