TEALtini Cocktail-Tasting Event in East Liberty Tonight

Peters Native Kelly Mellott and the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition to host premiere event Thursday.

The first of its kind, the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition will host a cocktail contest and fundraiser tonight.

TEALtini, an original idea by Peters grad and Patch freelancer , will have guests participating in a cocktail tasting featuring teal-inspired alcoholic beverages created by some of Pittsburgh's hottest, trendiest bars and restaurants, according to a release.

Mellott said restaurants such as Tusca and Donato's will be present, as well as beer, hard lemonade and non-alcoholic beverages.

Guests can vote on a favorite drink and the winning beverage will be named the official cocktail of TEALtini. In addition, food, a do-it-yourself craft marketplace and a celebrity guest will be present, all in support of ovarian cancer.

DJ Mike Cunningham will provide dance music and entertainment, with support from Miss U-FAB.

Walk the teal carpet with host Joe King of Cue Magazine, and prepare for a photo op—a photo booth with "over-the-top accessories" will be available. Guests are welcome to take photos home.

The I Made It! market will be on-site selling beautiful, teal-inspired crafts including crafts, jewelry and artwork.

"The goal of this event is to raise support and awareness surrounding the risk and symptom recognition of ovarian cancer, but to do it a fun, positive way," said Pittsburgh chapter Manager Mary Urban.

"We look forward to getting people dancing and have fun, but learning something about the disease at the same time."

TEALtini is from 7-10 p.m. in Bakery Square, part of Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood. It's a 21-and-over event and IDs will be checked at the door. Advanced tickets are $20; door tickets are $25. Tickets can be purchased here. Also, check out the event on Facebook and "like" the event's Facebook page.
