Pittsburgh’s Second Annual ReuseFest – Saturday August 3

The folks at the Pennsylvania Resources Council are teaming up with local non-profit groups to collect your extra “stuff” and get it into the hands of neighbors who can best reuse it. On Saturday, August 3, from 9-1, you can stop by the Goodwill parking lot in Lawrenceville with all of your reusable stuff. On hand will be 9 organizations willing and able to accept your donations.

**Please note that this is not a recycling event or a chemical collection event. The comprehensive list of acceptable items can be found at the website. Please call 12.488.7490 ext.236 if you have questions.

Most if not all of these organizations serve the entire Southwestern Pennsylvania region - the event is certainly open to anyone who wishes to donate.

Free Ride - Bikes, Bike Parts, and Tools in working order-(especially screw drivers, wrenches and allen keys).

Goodwill –  Gently used Clothing, Shoes, Houseware Items, Books, and Sporting Goods

Gay & Lesbian Community Center – Gently used Backpacks, Messenger & Laptop Bags, Office/Construction paper (partial packs fine), Pens/Pencils, Calculators, and Youth Focused DVDs

Global Links - Scrubs (gently-used, men’s/women’s), Nebulizers, Wheelchairs, Hearing Aids, Canes Crutches, Walkers (folding), Shower Benches

Off the Floor – Kitchen Tables and Chairs, Dressers, End Tables, Bed Frames and Cribs.

Pittsburgh Center For Creative Reuse - Art & Creativity Supplies (sketchbooks, canvas, art tools, and easels).

This is a terrific opportunity to move those items out of your attic, basement, garage, drawers, closets and so forth – in one fell swoop. The concept is very user friendly – you drive up with your items, fill out a simple form and volunteers will unload and distribute your donations. If you want to sort in advance (this bag for Goodwill, that box for the GLCC), that’s fine.

Please note that the GLCC is participating for the first time - collecting gently used school supply items.

Here’s a handy .pdf flyer you can share or post at your office to encourage your neighbors to literally give back their extra items to help neighbors in need.

If you would like to volunteer for this event, we need folks to join us and help collect, sort and organize the donations. Simply send an email to info@glccpgh.org with your contact information. Shifts are 8-11, 11-2.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
