Out of the Bag: Donating Venison and More Sharing

How to donate venison and other new opportunities to share ...

Venison is a terrific source of protein and its low in fat and cholesterol. To many families, it is a treat and to others it is a sorely missed food (hard to hunt without disposable income.) Hunters throughout Pennsylvania can donate venison - either partial or an entire deer - through Hunters Sharing the Harvest

Really, there are year round opportunities to donate fresh foods to your neighbors - produce, venison and other game, and even perishable items if your local pantry or soup kitchen has the resources. It is always good to ask. Feel free to contact us at Tote4Pgh (at) gmail dot com if you'd like to make a non-traditional donation.

Are you a fan of venison? Do you know someone who has donated through this or similar programs? Please share in the comments section.

Speaking of sharing, the "Yinz Save n' Share" project (aka BurghSaver) is matching all food and grocery donations made at the 2012 I Made It! for the Holidays event at Bakery Square Fri Nov 30 and Sat Dec 1. Cash donations of $5 and above will generate a donation of a tote bag.
