PR Wins, 26-7, in Upset Victory Over Woodland Hills Wolverines

In an upset, the  scored a 26-7 victory Friday over the Woodland Hills Wolverines.

“Pine-Richland was well prepared and well coached. They played inspired football,” anmsasports.net announcer said in coverage streamed live from the  the game at Woodland Hills.

The Wolverines were favored heavily going into their Homecoming game at the Wolvarena in Turtle Creek. The Woodland Hills team is now 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the Big East Conference.

The Rams moved up to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in Northern Seven Conference play.

Running back Brock Baranowski’s running game dominated as he scored three of the Rams’ four touchdowns.

Quarterback Austin Whipple completed 16 passes for 192 yards and a touchdown.

In the first quarter, a 4-yard run by Baranowski put the first 6 points on the board for the Rams, but the kick for the extra point was blocked.

A Whipple pass to Luke Merhaut scored the next touchdown and a two-point conversion moved the score to 14-0.

A muffed punt by Woodland Hills put the ball back into the Rams’ hands. Soon after, Baranowski scored on a 1-yard run and the point-after kick failed, making the score 20-0.

Baranowski’s 4-yard run scored the Rams’ final touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, but Pine-Richland led 26-0.

In the third quarter, the Wolverines moved the ball 71 yards in 1:37. A 31-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Menifee to wide receiver Shakim Alonzo resulted in Woodland Hills’ lone touchdown. The kick was good, making the score 26-7.

Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
