Book and Bake Sale at Swissvale Library

Sale begins Thursday, April 25th from 4pm to 8pm and continues on Friday, from 10am to 4pm. The $2 Bag Sale is on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Tons of books, lots of movies and plenty of baked goods, knitting and art from local artists...all at the Library Book and Bake Sale.  The 'Friends of the Library' volunteer group is preparing for the big event.  It takes a lot of work and a great bunch of dedicated folks to put together this big sale.  What many may not know is that this is the biggest fundraiser going into the summer.  All the profits are used to buy books, movies and everything needed for the children's programs.  And our biggest challenge is finding customers.  It seems the new trend of Nook and Kindle have attracted many people and it has become harder to find people interested in traditional books.  Think of it as a way to try a new author, give a gift of a lightly used book or keep kids excited about reading.  How can you go wrong with hardcover books at $1 and paperbacks at 25 cents?  All children and teen books are 25 cents.  Just think of it as a great way to help the library.  Your purchase brings new materials into the library for everyone to enjoy at no cost.  It's also a great way to meet new members of your community.  Stop by on April 25th to 27th and grab a book and some cookies and help the Library!   We hope to see some new faces.
