Residents of the Woodland Hills School District's millage rate for the 2013-14 year has decreased, but the amount residents pay in taxes will depend on their reassessments.

Last week, the school board approved an $87.8 million budget with a millage rate of 22.4. Last year's rate was 26.2 mills. However, because property value in the district increase 31 percent (according to the county website), officials were required to reduce the millage rate to a a "revenue neutral" figure.

The district's working budget included a tax rate of 21.8 mills, but Business Manager Joyce Sullivan had said an anticipated reduction in assessment appeals would cause that number to change.

Under the new rate, property owners will pay $2,240 for every $100,000 of assessed property value.
