UPDATED: Propel Braddock Hills School Collects Gently Used Toys for Holidays

Then, on Dec. 8, families in need can shop for free at the Propel Braddock Hills High School cafeteria through Play It Forward Pittsburgh.

Play It Forward Pittsburgh is sponsoring a used toy drive for families in need at the Propel Braddock Hills High School on Yost Boulevard.

The event was started by two moms who wanted to make a difference.

"They began the toy drive, Play it Forward, collecting gently used toys, stuffed animals, and books and offering them to families in need locally," explains Angela Gaitaniella, marketing and community relations coordinator for Propel Schools.

"This will be the second year in a row that Propel Braddock Hills has been the site for donation drop offs. Propel high school students also participate in the organization, carrying and loading of the toys, stuffed animals, and books."

To help famlies who are struggling shop for free this holiday, members of the community can:

  • Donate gently used toys for all ages, infants through teens.
  • Donate your time (and bring your families)
  • Donate batteries.
  • Donate gift wrap or gift bags.
  • Share information about this effort with families who might be in need of some free toy shopping this season.

Simply drop off gently used toys to a local helper before Thursday, Dec. 6.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, families in need can shop for free in the Propel Braddock Hills High School cafeteria. Each family is invited to take up to five toys per child for free.

Those who donate can shop that same day from 3 to 5 p.m. for toys for their children—for a small donation. All proceeds will be given to a local family-centered charity.
