Patch Picks: WPSD Block Party, Tour Du District this Saturday

Don't miss these family events this Saturday!

This weekend, you have many choices to get your fun on in various ways throughout the neighborhood, while at the same time, connecting with local schools.

complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, a kids talent show and yard sale. That’s just the beginning.

From 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., a yard sale will be held on the . A classic car show, music, exhibits, games and food all will be available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., while a children’s talent show will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The top three winners of the talent show receive cash prizes.

The event stemmed from the , which are held for local leaders from Swissvale, Wilkinsburg and Edgewood each month to encourage communication across municipal boundaries.

Also on Saturday, take a throughout the community’s many schools in support of the Woodland Hills Foundation, which works to provide scholarships and more to local students.

Beginning and ending at riders will have the option of:

  • 2.5 mile Kids Ride, start time 9:30 a.m., registration fee $5
  • 5 mile Easy Ride, start time 9:00 a.m., registration fee $10
  • 25 mile District Tour, start time 7:30 a.m., registration fee $25
  • 30 mile Hill Climbing Ride, start time 7:30 a.m., registration fee $25

New this year at Tour Du District—riders and spectators will have a chance to win a child’s bike donated by Performance Bikes. 

Riders will be given a raffle ticket at registration and spectators can buy a chance to win. In addition, professional photographer Paul Richard Wossidlo will provide each rider with a free individual ride photo.
