Junior High Students Participate in Pasta for Pennies
Program involves students collecting change for people with blood cancer.
students are participating in the Pasta for Pennies program this year in an effort to help people fighting blood cancer.
Pennies for Patients and Olive Garden's Pasta for Pennies are service learning programs in which students collect spare change to raise money in the battle against cancer.
This fundraiser benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission is to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services. To learn more, visit www.LLS.org .

Junior high students started collecting money in homerooms last week. Students also will be sent home with individual collection boxes. Local businesses are being asked to match classroom totals or weekly totals. The top fundraising class will receive a pasta party donated by the Olive Garden restaurant.
