Dining with Diabetes

Penn State Extension will hold two free “Dining with Diabetes” informational/registration meetings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 and 31 at the Penn State Extension Office, third floor, in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The public is invited to attend either meeting, but they must pre-register by calling the Allegheny County Extension Office at 412-473-2540 weekdays between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“Dining with Diabetes” is a program for adults with diabetes that consists of four weekly classes and a three-month follow-up. The four classes will teach participants how to prepare recipes that are not only healthy, but also simple and tasty. For a small registration fee of just $35 for one person or $50 for two people who live together, participants will receive a recipe book, pedometer and stretch bands for attending all five classes. In addition, participants will obtain up-to-date information on understanding common diabetes-related medical tests, such as A1c and Microalbumin.
