Survey Designed to Assess Needs of Southwestern PA Veterans

Veterans of all generations are asked to take this survey, but especially post-9/11 veterans.

The needs of the 200,000 veterans living in southwestern Pennsylvania could be better met by simply taking a 10-15 minute survey online.

The survey was recently developed by Megan Andros—an Iraq war veteran and Coro Fellow who is currently working at The Heinz Endowments on veterans initiatives.

"I have found that there is a lack of detailed information about veterans in southwestern Pennsylvania," said Andros. "Multiple government agencies and research institutions are unable to go into depth about what services veterans from different generations need or care about."

Andros said she hopes all area veterans will take the survey, but she is especially pushing for post-9/11 veterans to answer the 39 questions.

"We want to make sure that during this time when our nation’s military is downsizing, programs are in place to seamlessly and responsibly transition our area’s more than 16,000 Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom veterans and their families from military to civilian life," she said.

The deadline to take the survey is this Sunday, March 31. Click here to get started.

Andros hopes enough people take the survey so it can serve as a guide for policy and funding decisions for Pittsburgh-area veterans.
