Students Present Book of Architecture at Edgewood Council

Students from Edgewood Elementary created a book of local houses and presented it to council Monday night.

Students from the Gifted and Talented Education program at Edgewood Elementary School presented borough council with a book of local architecture Monday night.

Led by teacher and Edgewood resident Karen Schollaert, four students, including Claire Bachtell, Madison Chontos, Kaitlyn Edinger and Juliette Gough, presented a book they created, featuring the historical architecture and design featured in homes throughout the neighborhood.

"They studied architecture this year and because there are so many interesting specimens of architecture in the community, they created a book and would like to donate it to the borough for display when people come to visit the borough," Schollaert said.

During the council meeting, Bachtell went on to describe the process the students took.

"First, we wrote letters to the homeowners in Edgewood asking if we could use the pictures that we took of their houses in our book, then we went onto a website and created the book," Bachtell said.
