State Rep. Paul Costa Sworn In for 8th Term in House

Costa will serve as Democratic chairman of the House Liquor Control Committee this year.

State Rep. Paul Costa (D-Wilkins Township) was sworn in Tuesday for his eighth term representing the 34th Legislative District in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of the 197th legislative session. Sworn in were 91 Democrats and 111 Republicans for this legislative session. One Allegheny County seat is to be determined by a special election in the coming months.   

The state House returns to voting session in Harrisburg on Jan. 14.

The 34th legislative district includes Edgewood, Forest Hills, Swissvale, Braddock, Braddock Hills, Chalfant, Churchill, North Braddock, Rankin, Turtle Creek, Ward 14 of the City of Pittsburgh and Wilkins Township.

Costa's constituent service office is located at 519 Penn Ave. in Turtle Creek and is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number is 412-824-3400.

A variety of services are available at his office, including help with state Department of Transportation paperwork, applications for and assistance with state programs such as PACE/PACENET, the state's prescription drug assistance for senior citizens, and the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program, information on other state services, and brochures and publications on many topics important to local residents.

This year marks Costa’s first as Democratic chairman of the House Liquor Control Committee.
