Proposed Budget: No Tax Increase in Edgewood

Edgewood Council briefly discussed the upcoming year's budget at Monday's council meeting.

Council Monday announced an ordinance that calls for no tax increase in the 2012 preliminary budget.

The millage rate for borough properties will remain at 8.16, or $8.16 per $1,000 of a property's value. and 2010, said council member Jennifer Gleba.

The proposed $2.73 million budget for 2012 also does not have any service cuts, council members stated at Monday's regular meeting. The 2011 budget came to a total of $2.67 million.

A public hearing regarding the budget will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at the borough building. Residents are invited to attend to make comments and ask any questions.
