No Tax Increase in Swissvale Budget

The council president says residents won't see a reduction of services in 2012.

Swissvale Borough Council unanimously passed a 2012 budget with no tax increase at a special meeting Wednesday evening—and was out the door in all of eight minutes.

The $6 million budget keeps the property tax rate at 10.1 mills, or $1,010 for a person whose home is valued at $100,000. Council President said the budget maintains the same level of services, such as police and public works.

Seniors in Allegheny County who are 60 or older, have lived in the same home for at least 10 years and have a household income of $30,000 or less may qualify for a 30-percent tax discount. For more information, click on this link.
