Meet the Council Member: Marc Wallace

Wallace is a new Edgewood Council member.

Marc Wallace is a registered Democrat who is just beginning a four-year term on Council. He moved to the borough in 1999 and lives with his wife and two children. Wallace is taking the place of former council member Audrey Waldock.

What are your main goals as a new council member?

The main focus is to maintain fiscal oversight and ensure the services we have are maintained. Hopefully we can increase that with non tax incentives. We had a significant tax increase three years ago and I have been on the outside looking in, so I decided to join council.

What do you enjoy most about living in Edgewood?

The people and the fact that we are so close. It’s  a strong community feel and we have a lot of services that you don’t have in other Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

What are the top three issues facing the borough currently?

The first is the fact that we have to upgrade our sewage system and the money needed for such a massive project. The second is maintaining a strong police presence with budgetary constraints. And utilizing the consolidating efforts with adjoining boroughs and municipalities.

I think every borough is going to be addressing issues with the property tax reassessements and how that fits in the budgets but we will see how that plays out.

What are you looking forward to as a council member?

Hopefully gaining the trust of the citizens of the borough to work with council and acieve our goals.
