According to its mission, the nonprofit foundation is "dedicated to promoting and enhancing the cultural, social and educational environment of Edgewood life for all residents."

The Edgewood Symphony, , is another local effort supported by the foundation. Sleep Over in the Park was held last September and involved more than 50 Edgewood residents who pitched tents and slept under the stars at Koenig Field. In coordination with Edgewood Borough Police and the fire department, neighbors were able to enjoy a bonfire and a safe outdoor night’s sleep for a camping experience close to home.

The Wine and Chocolate event, which was held this past November, will not occur n 2011 as it has been designated for every other year, Hooks said.

“We are trying to do as many projects as we can with other groups in Edgewood the last couple years to keep everybody working together, larger and make it more of a community,” Hooks said.

Other projects include a brunch for local high school seniors during graduation season, Light Up Edgewood during the holidays and more.

Borough President Pat Schaefer thanked Hooks for the work the foundation completes each year.

“You are the heart of the community building we try to support and it’s much appreciated – thank you for everything the foundation does and does so well,” Schaefer said.
