Edgewood Council Approves New Police Car, Discusses Upcoming Meeting

The latest from Edgewood Council.

Council met Tuesday night, approving a new audio recording policy and the purchase of a new police car for the borough. Council approved:

  • An audio recording policy that states the regular recordings of the meetings will be erased as soon as the minutes of the said meeting are approved. The recordings provided on the borough’s website also will be erased at the same time.
  • The purchase of a new 2012 Ford Expedition in the amount of $28,168 for the police department.
  • The exoneration of uncollected real estate taxes amounting $32,271 from the tax collector’s responsibility. The Pennsylvania Municipal Service Company will now handle the collection of delinquent taxes.

In addition, council discussed the following:

  • Books recently were donated to in honor of the services provided to the borough by former Mayor Mal Hellet and former council members Audrey Waldock and Gregg Bowers.
  • A council retreat will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at the borough building. The meeting is open to the public and will include discussion of topics ranging from budget issues, to public safety and tree surveying.
  • Newly elected recently attended the police department’s regular meeting to discuss current topics and issues.
