District Court Reports: Judge Thomas Caulfield

The following is a list of cases heard at district court in Forest Hills before Judge Thomas Caulfield this week.

  • Calvin J. Huffman, 25, of Uniontown was held for court on charges of possession of heroin, operating with unsafe equipment, presenting false identification to law enforcement, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Arrested June 9 by Churchill police, Huffman posted $10,000 bail. The man had been driving on the 2200 block of William Penn Highway when police noticed he had a shattered windshield and a collection of air fresheners hanging in the back window, obstructing the driver’s view. When police initiated a traffic stop, Huffman was visibly nervous and told police his name was Josh Campbell. Police found 51 stamp bags of heroin in the car. Huffman’s actual identity was later found out as well. He told police he had “just started selling heroin” that week.
  • Johnnie Burton, 26, of Larimer was held for court on charges of aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, false report, possession of instrument of crime with intent and harrasment. He was arrested by Wilkins police Feb. 19 after a street fight on Patterson Avenue. Witnesses said he struck a man with a pipe who had been screaming in the street after a crowd began to fight. Burton was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
  • Nicholas Stamerra, 20, of North Huntingdon waived his right to a preliminary hearing this week on charges of possesion of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and making repairs/selling an offensive weapon. Arrested June 16 by Forest Hills police, Stamerra was sitting in a car with another person in the parking lot of Drew’s Restaurant, according to the police report. Police said the two men were holding syringes, grabbed several stamp bags of heroin and tried to hide them in between the seats and in their pants. Police also recovered a stun gun.
  • Aaron John Kurtz, 19, of Turtle Creek waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and retail theft. Arrested April 28 by Wilkins police, the police report states that a call about a theft was taken from Shop 'n Save around 9 p.m. that day. The store manager said a man had stolen items and took off on a bike down Hawthorne Drive. Police found Kurtz laying on a hillside on the other side of the building where they found $31.33 worth of stolen items, along with possession of Xanax without a prescription.
