Crack Cocaine, Heroin Found; Man Charged in Gift Card Scam

Here's a look at the latest from District Judge Thomas Caulfield's office in Forest Hills.

  • Scott Fitzgerald Reed, Jr., 19, of Braddock Hills waived his right to a preliminary hearing on six charges of theft by deception and false impression. Reed, Jr. was arrested May 10 after Forest Hills police had received several calls since December about a young man identifying himself as a Woodland Hills High School student who was selling gift cards door to door. The gift cards had not been activated and had no value. On May 10, neighbors called Forest Hills police reporting a similar occurrence. When police arrived, they found 14 gift cards, $121 in cash and a small amount of marijuana in his backpack. He later admitted to the crime. Eight victims have been confirmed.
  • Patricia Lynae Coto, 27, of Penn Hills waived her right to a preliminary hearing this week on charges of possession with the intent to deliver, two charges of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Coto was arrested May 14 by Churchill police during a traffic stop at Penn Avenue and Graham Boulevard in which she denied being on probation. Police found crack cocaine, four stamp bags of heroin, pills and $127 cash in her purse.
  • Robert Russell Spence, 61, of Manor waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of possession with the intent to deliver, two charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence. Wilkins police arrested Spence March 13 during a traffic stop after they noticed his inspection stickers were expired. Police noticed that Spence’s hands were shaking and he had a cracked lip. He was pulled over on Larimer Avenue in Turtle Creek, where police found a crack pipe in his pants, five rocks of crack cocaine, four stamp bags of heroin and additional pipes in the car. Spence told police that the heroin was for a prostitute in Pitcairn.
