$44K in Emergency Spending for Tree Trimming Approved in Edgewood

Edgewood Council Monday approved the spending for emergency tree trimming, which will be done by Duquesne Light.

Council Monday approved spending more than $44,000 to trim trees on East End Avenue due to an emergency need in the area.

The trees’ limbs are close to power lines managed by Duquesne Light, the only company that can then make or authorize the repairs because of power issues on the street. The project will not go out for bid because the local power company needs to oversee and implement the trimming, said Borough Manager Warren Cecconi.

“I think it’s important for folks to be aware that it does cost to maintain this,” said Edgewood Council President Pat Schaefer.

The project needs to be done as soon as possible due to already reported property damage, as well as to prevent any injury to residents, council said.
