Wilkinsburg Police Arrest Pittsburgh Homicide Suspect

Ashanti Montgomery was taken into custody on Sunday.

Wilkinsburg police arrested Ashanti Montgomery on Sunday in connection with a homicide that occurred in Pittsburgh on Jan. 10.

Ashanti Montgomery, 18, of Homewood had an outstanding arrest warrant obtained by the Pittsburgh Police Homicide Squad in connection with the shooting death of Deondre Pace, which occurred in the 300 block of Beltzhoover Avenue on Jan. 10.

After the arrest, Wilkinsburg police notified the city homicide division that Montgomery was in custody.

Montgomery is charged with criminal homicide, firearms not to be carried without a license, and criminal conspiracy. He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail. Bail has been denied.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled at 10 a.m. Feb. 22 in Pittsburgh Municipal Court before Judge Donna Jo McDaniel.
