Wilkinsburg Man Charged with Multiple Edgewood Break-Ins, Stealing Car

A man accused of breaking local car windows is in jail.

A Wilkinsburg man charged with breaking into more than was arrested by Pittsburgh police Wednesday after being spotted in a stolen car taken from the Linden Avenue lot.

Tyler Lethridge, 19, of Wilkinsburg was wanted on multiple warrants in the city, including charges of sexual assault and armed robbery. He is now also charged with breaking into cars and smashing windows in Edgewood.

After a second rash of the car break-ins occurred Saturday, in which items were stolen and car windows were smashed in , a white Volkswagon also was reported stolen from the borough’s Linden lot, according to Edgewood Police Chief Robert Payne.

“During the investigation, East Pittsburgh police spotted the stolen car and chased it into Turtle Creek,” Payne said.

Lethridge was in the car with his girlfriend, who also will be charged as an accomplice. She gave a statement to police implicating him in the car break-ins in Edgewood.

While Pittsburgh police arrested Lethridge Wednesday and he was taken to Allegheny County Jail, Edgewood police interviewed the suspect Thursday morning, when he confessed to the local crimes.

“He confessed to all of the break-ins and also stealing the car,” Payne said.
