Troy Hill Man Held for Court in Rape of Teen

Devonta Lamonte Manker is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl in Wilkinsburg on June 18.

District Judge Kim M. Hoots held Devonta Lamonte Manker, 19, of Troy Hill for court after a preliminary hearing Sept. 13 on charges stemming from the alleged rape of a teenager on June 18 in Wilkinsburg.

Manker faces charges of forcible rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault without consent, unlawful restraint (serious bodily injury), simple assault, indecent assault without the consent, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another in connection with the incident.

According to a criminal complaint, the 17-year-old girl and her sister were in Pittsburgh when they encountered two men who invited them to take a bus with them to Wilkinsburg. The four got off at the Hay Street station of the Busway East and went to a nearby apartment.

Manker is accused of making sexual advances toward the teen and then threatening to shoot her when she asked him to stop. According to the complaint, when she wanted to leave, Manker led her upstairs to a vacant apartment where he allegedly raped her.

Afterward, he left the apartment, the victim told police.

The next day, she went for treatment at Magee-Women Hospital in Oakland and reported the incident to police. He will face trial in Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.
