Swissvale Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Illegally Possessing Firearm

Julian Crosby was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a previous conviction on felony offenses.

Julian Crosby, 28, of 7304 Schley Ave., Swissvale, has been sentenced in federal court to 64 months in prison on his conviction of violating federal firearms laws.

Senior U.S. District Judge Gustave Diamond imposed the sentence on
Crosby. According to information presented to the court, Crosby, a convicted felon, possessed a firearm on Aug. 6, 2011.

Since Crosby has previously been convicted of felony offenses, federal law
prohibits him from possessing a firearm.

This case is being prosecuted under Project Safe Neighborhoods, a collaborative effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and communities to prevent, deter and prosecute gun crime.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Crosby.
